American Airlines AAdvantage award miles expire 24 months after the last qualifying activity. You can view the activity under the Account Summary at aa.com. Per the AAdvantage FAQs, AAdvantage credit card members are not subject to the 24-month qualifying activity period as long as their card account is open.

- AA Vacations – Earn miles by booking a flight, hotel or car through AA Vacations
- Use an American co-branded credit card
- Donate your miles
- Add your AAdvantage number to a car rental
- Transfer Marriott points to AA
- Purchase AAdvantage Miles
- Fly on AA or a partner airline
Should your miles expire, you can reactive miles for a fee.
